ICU: Intensive Care Unit

ICU is an abbreviation that means Intensive Care Unit. This is the only department inside a hospital which provides medicine for intensive treatment and life-saving treatment to patients who suffer from serious injuries or disease. The facilities that offer intensive care services take care of patients who have patients who are suffering from the most serious and life-threatening injuries or illnesses that need constantand constantly controlled by a team of doctors and nurses. The team is trained to treat seriously injured or critically ill patients. Patients can be admitted directly to ICU following discharge of an emergency department in the event that they need it. This process is typically done when the health of the patient continues to decline.
